Handmade Plaques

Danielle from Mostly Food and Crafts made a great picture/recipe holder that gave me an idea....Light Bulb!  We are always looking for great gift ideas for our school administrators for the holidays and I thought these would be great!  I went about buying the items needed to make them (They were dirt cheap, by the way!  It only cost about $38 to make 6 of them.)  When I got home with the stuff, Bill, my husband, said that he would go ahead and make them for me.  I was originally thinking that I would ask him really nicely anyway, but this time I didn't even have to ask.

He began working on them and before long, he had them finished.  He did a few things differently than Danielle.  He used dowel rods instead of just glue.  So, he did have to use some power tools, which he thoroughly enjoys.  Ronin even got in on the building action (Ronin's "power drill" above as proof).

Here is what they looked like once Bill was almost finished.

He glued on the mini clothes pins and I spray painted them to add some character.  Here is what they looked like once they were dressed up as a gift.   I think they turned out pretty good!  Thanks for the idea, Danielle!

More Circles...Who know it was possible?

I have created more of the fabric circle wreaths, only this time, they are holiday themed!

I made an "Autumn-y" one too.

I'm not JUST Crafty...

I also love to take pictures.  I have been doing some work for friends.  Here are some to check out below.

Ready for Fall!

I have been diligently preparing for a craft show that I am doing this weekend.  In doing so, I decided to make a "fall-like" wreath for my own door.  I love the way burlap looks, but I hate the way it feels when all the little pieces are all over my skin.  But, I cannot help myself!

Circles, Circles, Everywhere...

While reading one of my favorite blogs, Tatertots & Jello, awhile back I saw a beautiful wreath that I she had made.  It was a part of a giveaway and she offeres a tutorial at the end of the blog post.  I thought to myself, " I can make that!".  So, this summer amoungst other projects, I made one.  Here are pictures of my wreath below.

In the picture above, you can see most of the supplies I started with.  The most useful tool was the circle cutter (it made the fabric cutting much quicker and easier).  I still had to cut the burlap circles out individually, and got a huge blister on my finger doing so.
The great thing is that I have leftover fabric to make one for my sister.  She can add it to her blog: Yummy, Pretty, Funny, since in my opinion, it falls in the "pretty" category!

I Have Been VERY Busy - making Personalized Necklaces!

About 2 months ago, I saw a personalized necklace with a childs name and picture on it.  I went to the website that made these and couldn't believe the price.  I thought to myself, "I can make that!" So, I went about making one for myself and one for a friend.  Other people who I teach with have expressed interested, and I decided that I might be able to make them for other people too.  Sunday, I spent about 4 hours making handmade, personalized necklaces for 5 different people.  I thought I would share them here.  If any of you readers is interested, shoot me an email.
